This twelve-piece set of Wedgwood bone china is from The Millennium Collection, manufactured in England. The set consists of matching cups and saucers across three distinct thematic colorways and decorative subjects commemorating historical achievements of the past thousand years. Two duos are finished in a lavender palette centered on arts and entertainment, featuring depictions of the Beatles and Marilyn Monroe's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Two duos are in light blue, focusing on science and music with imagery including a violin, a clock face, and a horse-drawn carriage. The remaining two duos are in sage green, representing architecture and invention with motifs of the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, and an incandescent lightbulb. All pieces feature detailed polychrome transfer-printed designs and are finished with hand-applied gold gilt on the rims and handles. Each saucer displays a central multi-pointed sun motif with a face. The underside of each piece bears a printed backstamp in black with the stylized W mark, WEDGWOOD, MILLENNIUM, BONE CHINA, MADE IN ENGLAND, and a copyright date of 1998. Several items also bear a silver circular sticker for the RUBIN COLLECTION. The cups are of a straight-sided cylindrical form with a flared rim and simple loop handle, while the saucers have a shallow, upturned profile. Dimensions: 0.75"H x 5.00" dia.
