1760 Voce Populi Halfpenny. Nelson-14, Zelinka 16-O, W-13960. Rarity-6.

1760 Voce Populi Halfpenny. Nelson-14, Zelinka 16-O, W-13960. Rarity-6. P Below Bust. EF-40 (PCGS). One of the rarest varieties in the Voce Populi series, Nelson-14 is also among the most distinctive, with a catlike, mustachioed portrait and a reverse figure of great crudity. The present specimen is high grade for the variety, and also incredibly wholesome at the certified EF-40 level. Warm orange-brown patina overall, the central reverse also exhibits a few swirls of chestnut color, obverse with a similar-looking spot at the effigy's chin. Centering is good, most peripheral features free of the borders, all design elements bold in the presence of light wear. Hard and frosty with nice gloss, freedom from significant marks and troublesome flan flaws further confirm this as a premium Nelson-14. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection. PCGS# 268. NGC ID: 2AUF. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
