"1783" (ca. 1860) Washington Draped Bust Copper. Restrike. Musante GW-107, Vlack 17-L, Baker-3A, W-10380. No Button. Silver. Engrailed Edge. Proof-64 (PCGS). OGH. Reflective fields support frosty, fully impressed motifs on both sides of this gorgeous specimen. Both sides are originally and attractively toned in warm silver-mauve with mottled blushes of charcoal-olive at the peripheries. Vivid undertones in powder blue and golden-apricot iridescence are also discernible as the surfaces rotate into direct lighting - highly attractive. Nicely preserved with only faint, well concealed hairlines precluding an even higher grade. According to the Rulau-Fuld Washingtoniana reference (1999), only 50 to 100 silver specimens were struck from this die pairing. Only on rare occasions do we have the opportunity to offer one for sale. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection. PCGS# 688. NGC ID: 2B6U. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
