1787 Connecticut Copper. Miller 33.7-r.2, W-3440. Rarity-1. Draped Bust Left, B (LIB)/Cinquefoil. AU-50 (PCGS). Warm olive-orange brown surfaces with no notable flaws and good eye appeal. Trivially off center to 3 o'clock on the obverse, 1 o'clock on the reverse, although only the border denticulation is affected to an appreciable extent. This variety is often weak at the effigy's head, as seen here, detail correspondingly soft through the bottom of the seated figure on the reverse, where much of the original planchet texture is seen. Middle obverse die state with a break through the letters CTO in AUCTORI, clashing in upper left field, light crack through the final colon. A common variety, but a very pleasing example. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection. PCGS# 370. NGC ID: 2B2X. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
