1787 Fugio Cent. Pointed Rays. Newman 13-X, W-6855. Rarity-1. STATES

1787 Fugio Cent. Pointed Rays. Newman 13-X, W-6855. Rarity-1. STATES UNITED, 4 Cinquefoils. MS-63 RB (PCGS). The obverse retains more original mint red color than typically seen in a Fugio copper, even an example of the common Newman 13-X die pairing. The gray-brown patina also seen on that side is dominant on the reverse. Well centered in strike, otherwise bold detail wanes just a bit over the lower left obverse and at the rings along the left reverse border. Minor flan flaws and drift marks blend into the overall fabric of the coin and do not distract during in-hand viewing; there are no troublesome marks. Hard, smooth and satiny in overall appearance, in fact, there is much to recommend this coin to the discerning numismatist. PCGS# 884. NGC ID: 2B8E. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
