Exemplary Gem 1787 Fugio Copper Newman 13-X 1787 Fugio Cent. Pointed Rays. Newman 13-X, W-6855. Rarity-1. STATES UNITED, 4 Cinquefoils. MS-65 BN (NGC). A picture perfect type example of the first circulating coin authorized by the United States government. Superb glossy brown tinged with pastel and iridescent highlights of blue and violet. Traces of mint color persist in protected areas. The centering and striking sharpness are both excellent, offering a complete design on both sides including the surface, the word BUSINESS, and all fine details on both sides. A little bit of planchet texture survived the striking process in the southeast obverse perimeter, but we see no significant post striking flaws. Vestiges of an old spot harmlessly hide within the top of the first ring clockwise from the top of the reverse. This piece shows a double set of clash marks and abundant interesting aspects to see under a glass. Really beautiful and well preserved, a first rate example of this American classic. Provenance: From the Winslet Collection. PCGS# 883. NGC ID: 2B8E. Click here for certification details from NGC.
