1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 46-e, W-5250. Rarity-1. No Sprig Above

1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 46-e, W-5250. Rarity-1. No Sprig Above Plow, Clashed Die. AU-55 (PCGS). SHI DS5. Nice olive-brown patina overall, the obverse with intermingled sandy-brown that creates a mottled appearance for that side. Surfaces are hard and frosty, the advanced die state accounting for swelling and loss of detail at lower obverse and within the horizontal lines of the shield. Even so, this is a well struck piece with good centering and the detail bold where allowed by die state. This is a plentiful Maris number, for sure, but finding any New Jersey copper in nice, problem free and visually appealing Choice AU is always a treat for discerning bidders. PCGS# 766317. BASE PCGS# 506. NGC ID: AUL8. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
