1788 Machin's Mills Halfpenny. Vlack 23-88A, W-8100. Rarity-2. GEORGIVS

1788 Machin's Mills Halfpenny. Vlack 23-88A, W-8100. Rarity-2. GEORGIVS III, Group III. EF-40 (PCGS). CAC. A wonderful example of this Vlack number, this 23-88A would also do nicely as the only Machin's Mills halfpenny in a type collection. Hard and frosty surfaces reveal plenty of good gloss. Color is richly original in a blend of chestnut and olive-copper. Both sides show signs of die fatigue, obverse devoid of border denticulation, reverse trivially off center to 3 o'clock, although we note impressively bold to sharp EF detail to the main design elements. With no significant marks or other pre- or post-production blemishes, this is the nicest that one is likely to find for this type at the assigned grade level. Worthy of strong bids. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection. PCGS# 472. NGC ID: 2B48. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
