"1789" Mott Token. Breen-1022, var. Thick Planchet. Engrailed Edge. Cent Weight. VF-35 (PCGS). Breen (1988) lists cent weight examples with a plain edge only, but although the edge is not visible through the holder, the use of PCGS coin #605 suggests that this is one of those rare pieces with some kind of edge device. Nicely struck with deep walnut brown patina and a hint of golden-olive overall. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection. Earlier from Heritage's CSNS Signature Auction of April 2008, lot 31.
