As nice an example of this popular American reference token as anyone will ever see, this piece stands alone atop both the NGC Census and the PCGS Population Report, where it was also once certified as MS-65 RB and continues to serve as the plate piece on PCGS CoinFacts. Abundant mint color persists on both sides, elegantly mellowed in the fields to produce an aesthetically impressive look. No significant marks or spots are seen, just the most minuscule abrasion on the rim above the letter S in LIBERTAS at the lower right obverse. Fully struck from an early die state, with no break within Franklin's press. The centering is ideal, with nearly full denticles visible around the reverse.
