1794 Talbot, Allum & Lee Cent. Fuld-3, W-8580. Rarity-4. With NEW

1794 Talbot, Allum & Lee Cent. Fuld-3, W-8580. Rarity-4. With NEW YORK. Small & on Reverse. Copper. Lettered Edge. AU-58 (PCGS). Regency Holder. A handsome, fully original example with olive-brown patina mingling with considerable faded mint orange color. Both sides are boldly to sharply defined overall and show no marks or other blemishes of note. Breen-1032: "The other variety, Fuld-3, has N of NEW entirely beyond A, and is very rare." An attractive piece - from an early, unbroken state of the reverse - that should attract more than one specialist. This was the only Talbot, Allum, & Lee cent offered in our (Bowers and Merena's) May 1996 Eliasberg sale. The Regency holder the coin is now encapsulated is also of note. This oversized, out-of-rectangular holder was seldom used due to its cost, and was offered only from 1992 to 1996. Provenance: From the Emerald Coast Collection. Earlier from our (Bowers and Merena's) sale of the Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr. Collection, May 1996, lot 94; Heritage's CSNS Signature Auction of April 2020, lot 3024. PCGS# 634. NGC ID: 2B5X.
