1827 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-115. Rarity-3. Square Base 2. MS-63 (NGC). OH. Die State 115.1. Slightly speckled toning in blue gray enhances a base of lighter champagne-apricot iridescence. The strike is a bit soft at upper obverse and lower reverse, but bold to sharp elsewhere, with a full quota of softly frosted luster on both sides. The 1827 O-115 is a scarcer, more conditionally challenged variety of the issue. The present example is not included in the Spring 2026 revision to Stephen J. Herrman's AMBPR for Bust half dollars, but based on the list therein it is tied for CC#4 for this Overton number. PCGS# 6144. NGC ID: 24FN. Click here for certification details from NGC.
