1840-C Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. Winter-1. EF-40 (PCGS).

1840-C Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. Winter-1. EF-40 (PCGS). Honey-gold surfaces are curiously glossy in texture with light hairlining, but remain free of sizeable or otherwise individually distracting marks. Boldly defined overall in the presence of light wear, and as expected for this issue that numbers among the better struck in the early Charlotte Mint quarter eagle series. A respectable circulated type coin for the collector seeking a single two-and-a-half from this challenging Southern mint. Provenance: From the Bryan C. Tipton Collection. PCGS# 7718. NGC ID: 25GB.
