"An American Dictionary of the English Language" with "A Key to the Classical Pronunciation of Greek, Latin, and Scripture Proper Names" by John Walker. New York: White & Sheffield, 1841, Stereotype edition, 1,011 pages. Bound in brown leather with ribbed spine and gilt lettering. Note: This edition was abridged and edited by Joseph Emerson Worcester (American, 1784-1865), as explained in the included Preface, who, shortly after publication, split from Webster to become his direct competitor. This split commenced what would become known famously as the "Dictionary Wars". Approximate dimensions: Laying down: 2 3/4 x 6 1/4 x 9 7/8 in. (7 x 15.9 x 25.1 cm.)
