1859 Non Nobis Solum Medal. By George Hampden Lovett. Musante GW-309

1859 Non Nobis Solum Medal. By George Hampden Lovett. Musante GW-309, Baker-289E. White Metal, Gilt. MS-65 (NGC). 51.0 mm. Splendid frosty surfaces are even medium gold overall. Sharply struck and crisp with nary a distracting blemish to either side. William Spohn Baker did not add much commentary specific to these medals in his 1885 reference, but did seem to delight in describing this reverse die in great detail in 16 lines of text, going well beyond the "masonic symbols" descriptors many writers have used! This is the only gilt white metal impression from these dies that we have in our online archives going back at least 20 years - rare. Provenance: From our December 2021 Tokens & Medals Collectors Choice Online Auction, lot 70033. Click here for certification details from NGC.
