Canadian. A historic Ontario coverlet in red, white, and blue made by Moses Grobb (1806-1877), brother of renowned furniture maker John Grobb, Lincoln County. This jacquard coverlet with centre seam is in the Four Rose Medallion pattern and was made for Catherine Grobb in 1867, the year of Confederation, marked in a corner block on both sides. Moses married Catherine (nee Funk) in 1828, and they had a child, Sara Catherine Grobb, for whom a coverlet was made in 1869. See "Keep me Warm One Night", page 343, for similar work by Moses Grobb. Signed and dated.
