1869 Pattern Three Cents. Judd-676, Pollock-753. Rarity-4. Nickel.

1869 Pattern Three Cents. Judd-676, Pollock-753. Rarity-4. Nickel. Plain Edge. Proof-65 Cameo (PCGS). CAC. Obv: Very similar to the design that the Mint used to strike regular issue 1869 nickel three-cent pieces, although the date logotype is noticeably larger. Rev: Also similar to the regular issue design, except the surfaces of the digits in the Roman numeral III are smooth. On this particular reverse die of Judd-676 the border dentils are short and the lower left ribbon tip is long. This is a gorgeous Gem with essentially brilliant surfaces and a razor sharp strike. A pronounced cameo finish further enhances the eye appeal. Provenance: From Legend Rare Auctions' Regency Auction XXII, July 2017, lot 13; Heritage's Dallas Signature Auction of November 2017, lot 18233; Heritage's FUN Signature Auction of January 2018, lot 5926. PCGS Population: 9; 5 finer in this category (all Proof-66 Cameo). CAC Stickered Population: 9; 5. PCGS# 388660. NGC ID: 29PV. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
