Eagerly Sought 1879 Pattern Morgan Dime Judd-1587 in Copper Ex Newman-Simpson 1879 Pattern Morgan Dime. Judd-1587, Pollock-1780. Rarity-6+. Copper. Reeded Edge. Proof-66+ RD (PCGS). CAC. Obv: Head of Liberty facing left with the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around the border and the date 1879 below. The portrait is essentially a miniature of that featured on the regular issue Morgan silver dollar introduced in 1878. Rev: The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, denomination ONE DIME, and an arc of 13 stars are inscribed within a dotted circle. Surrounding the circle is a wreath of corn, tobacco, cotton, and wheat. Glorious premium Gem surfaces exhibit full mint color in orange-olive that assume a rose-orange tint as the coin rotates into direct lighting. The fields are gently reflective and support smartly impressed, softly frosted design elements. A few tiny carbon specks on and before Liberty's portrait are easily overlooked during most viewing situations but are significant as provenance markers, nonetheless. Among the finest, most visually appealing of just 12 to 15 examples of Judd-1587 believed extant per the uspatterns.com website. Beautiful! Provenance: From Heritage's sale of the Eric P.
