1880-CC Liberty Head Half Eagle. AU-55 (PCGS).

1880-CC Liberty Head Half Eagle. AU-55 (PCGS). A minimally circulated example with most design elements sharply rendered and plenty of frosty mint luster retained. The mintage for this issue is 51,107 pieces, generous for a pre-1890 Carson City Mint half eagle, and the 1880-CC is one of the more readily obtainable issues in this mintmarked gold series. On the other hand, the typical survivor is well worn, usually in VF or EF grades, and even in properly graded AU-50 the 1880-CC can be difficult to locate. This PCGS-certified Choice AU is one of the nicer examples available to today's CC-Mint enthusiasts. Provenance: From the Bryan C. Tipton Collection. PCGS# 8352. NGC ID: 25XB.
