1892-O Barber Quarter. Type II Reverse. Lawrence-103, FS-101. Doubled Die Obverse. MS-66 (PCGS). Look to the motto IN GOD WE TRUST for evidence of the doubling that confirms the FS-101 attribution from PCGS. This is the single finest example of the variety known to PCGS. It is richly toned in mottled rose-russet (obverse) and olive-blue (reverse) colors that provide an attractively original appearance. The quality of strike and level of preservation are noteworthy for the issue in its entirety, which confirms that this coin holds tremendous appeal for both variety specialists and advanced Barber quarter enthusiasts. The first year 1892-O was saved in fairly significant numbers but, while obtainable in lower Mint State grades through MS-64, Gems are scarce to rare in the MS-65 to MS-67 grade range. That offered here will be a strong performer at auction. PCGS Population (FS-101 attribution only): just 1; 0 finer. PCGS# 146096. BASE PCGS# 5602. NGC ID: 23XU.
