1899 Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. JD-1. Rarity-4. Proof-64 Cameo (NGC).

Beautiful Choice Cameo Proof 1899 $2.50 1899 Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. JD-1. Rarity-4. Proof-64 Cameo (NGC). CAC. CMQ. OH. Beautiful Cameo Proof qualities are on full display on both sides of this vivid orange-gold specimen. Fully struck and satiny, the design elements contrast markedly with deeply reflective fields. Wisps of silver-olive and pale pinkish-rose tinting further enhance both sides and help to confirm the awesome originality of this piece. This is a highly desirable survivor from a Proof mintage of 150 pieces, one of 90 to 110 believed extant (per John W. Dannreuther, United States Proof Coins, Volume IV: Gold, Part One, 2018). It is a highlight of the classic gold offerings in this sale, and would be ideal for a high quality Proof gold type set. Provenance: From the Property of a Park Avenue Collector. PCGS# 87925. NGC ID: 288N. Click here for certification details from NGC.
