18th Century Hispano-Flemish School - Adoration of the Shepherds

Descriptio Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 152 x 92 cm. Based on Rubens’s The Adoration of the Magi, currently held at the Museum of Fine Arts in Marseille, this work is possibly attributed to one of his followers. It depicts the Nativity with Mary holding the Child in the center, surrounded by shepherds and adoring female figures. The pyramidal composition features a dramatic play of light, reminiscent of Flemish Baroque aesthetics. The work features expressive color and exquisite treatment of fabrics. Signed with an anagram in the lower right corner. 18th-century copy of an earlier model. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist.
