Hamburg South America Line (HSDG) maritime ephemera collection, circa 1900-1940. This grouping includes approximately 20 items featuring postcards, vintage photographs, and an embroidered textile cap tally. Postcards comprise both color lithographic artist renderings of ships at sea and real photo postcards (RPPCs) documenting harbor scenes, ship interiors, and vessels in drydock. Represented vessels include the SS Cap Arcona, SS Cap Polonio, MS Monte Olivia, MS Monte Rosa, SS Cap Finisterre, and SS Cap Frio. The textile cap tally is a black silk ribbon with gold-toned embroidered text reading CAP A and the HSDG house flag. Captions in German and Spanish appear on cards, such as Hamburg-Hafen and Monte Olivia im Dock. A photograph of a couple on deck bears a stylized signature in blue ink.
