Hand scribed, this Collingwood O.H.A Championship peice is a glimpse into the early days of sporting in Canada. The Championship team includes one of hockey's greatest amateur players Ernie Fryer. Ernie Fryer was one of Collingwood’s most celebrated hockey players, playing nearly his entire career with the Shipbuilders and leading the team to five Intermediate “A” championships between 1910 and 1920. Known for his speed, stickhandling and powerful wrist shot, Fryer famously turned down professional opportunities in 1919 to remain with Collingwood and win the league Championship. Fryer is seen above the captain footer on this piece and is accompanied by the rest of his 1918 Championship squad. Each players photograph is applied separately to the backing of this framed momento in postcard size. Each postcard size photo has not been inspected outside of the frame.
