1929 Spirit of St. Louis Cigarette Box

1929 Spirit of St. Louis Cigarette Box

Commemorative cigarette box issued for the Third National Aeronautic Meeting of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, held in St. Louis in 1929. The top features an applied metal emblem depicting Charles Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis with registration N-X-211, while the interior appears to be cedar lined. Inside the lid is a printed roster of signatures representing an extraordinary cross-section of early aviation, including Charles A. Lindbergh, Amelia Earhart, Orville Wright, Eddie Rickenbacker, David Guggenheim, Harry F. Guggenheim, Charles L. Lawrance, Karl Arnstein, William A. Moffett, Hugo Junkers, William F. Durand, William P. MacCracken Jr., and others. An interesting period artifact commemorating the rapid development of American aviation just two years after Lindbergh's historic transatlantic flight. Estimate $300 - $500
