1956 Porsche 356 A Speedster - One of the most sought-after versions of the Porsche 356 - Extensive maintenance and restoration work - Exceptional condition, both in and out According to its factory Kardex record, this Porsche 356 A Speedster was delivered new on the 7th December 1956 to the renowned New York importer Max Hoffman, in red with black faux leather upholstery and instrumentation in English. The Kardex also refers to servicing work done on the 4th June 1958 at 19,450 km; and later in its life, this car returned to Germany in its country of origin. It most likely spent some time in Bavaria and the extensive file of invoices included with the car indicates that it had significant servicing and restoration work carried out from 2000 onwards. In 2025 it was sold to the current owner by the estate of a collector who ran a bodywork restoration workshop. It is currently in immaculate condition, finished in an attractive cream colour with a brown soft top. It is fitted with a Porsche 912 Type 616/34 engine, an air-cooled flat-four version which reflects a logical evolution of its original engine, while retaining the same architecture. This modification is not unusual, as Speedster engines have not always stood the test of time and the 912 offers increased power and reliability. As an iconic model from this brand's early sporting successes and with its minimalist bodywork, as well as its outstanding condition, this Porsche Speedster embodies the very essence of the 356 in all its purity and will be perfectly at home on mountain roads, in international rallies or on display at the most prestigious classic car events.
