1960 Chevrolet Impala Convertible No reserve

1960 Chevrolet Impala Convertible No reserve

1960 Chevrolet Impala Convertible No reserve - Fresh from a major restoration - Desirable convertible version - In the collection since 1987, meticulously maintained - No reserve For Thierry Dehaeck, the Chevrolet Impala is a model of special significance, as his father purchased a coupé version back in 1960. Thierry was six years old at the time, leaving memories of the car deeply etched in his mind. "I even kept the original registration certificate in the name of André Dehaeck," he noted. When he began traveling regularly to the United States for Pidy, the family business, he took the opportunity to frequently visit his wife's family in Canada, near Montreal. It was there, in 1987, that he discovered this Impala convertible, offered for sale by Rob Myers, who was running a restoration shop in Ontario at the time. For the sum of 1,050 Canadian dollars, Thierry Dehaeck acquired the car - which had been sold new in Canada—and shipped it to Belgium, where he subsequently entered numerous touring rallies and concours d'elegance, winning a whole string of awards. Powered by a 4.6-liter V8 engine developing 185 hp, the Impala (named after the antelope) is emblematic of American cars from this era, with its lavish chrome and seagull-wing rear tailfins. In 2024, this Impala underwent a total restoration by the Cady Cars workshops, as documented by a photo file; the bodywork was completely dismantled, and the engine and gearbox were overhauled. After a year of work, the car is presented today in concours condition. Featured in the Westhoek newspaper during an article dedicated to the Thierry Dehaeck collection, this superb Impala holds a FIVA identity card. It comes with a history file including photos, brochures, and invoices. It will afford its next owner the full pleasure of the "American way of life," both on the road and at events or concours, where it will certainly draw attention.
