1961 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 OTS

1961 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 OTS

1961 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 OTS - One of the very first E-Types built - Outside bonnet lock, flat floor, bonnet louvres welded on - High-quality restoration - Original engine What makes this Jaguar E-Type exceptional is that it is one of the earliest cars produced. It was the 209th ‘Open Two Seater’ E-Type with left-hand drive to leave the factory in Browns Lane. It therefore has the distinctive features found only on the first 385 examples of this version: a flat floor, welded (rather than stamped) bonnet louvres and outside bonnet latches. According to its certificate of authenticity from the Jaguar Heritage Trust, it came off the production line on 12 July 1961, finished in ‘Opalescent Dark Green’ with beige leather upholstery, and was supplied to Dr. H. Allan Burnett by Jaguar of Eastern Canada in Montreal. Its second owner was Mario Calitri, in Toronto, and its history file includes a registration certificate dated 12 February 1990. On 4 July 2004, it was imported into the UK by the specialist R.I. Johnson, the owner of Chapel End Cars, who sold it on 3 January 2005 to F. Giardina, an Italian diplomat living in Luxembourg. In 2011, Giardina had a complete restoration of the car carried out, with no expense spared. A file of some 200 photographs shows the extent of the work undertaken. This is what appealed to Thierry Dehaeck, who bought it on 13 November 2015 through the company AD Sportscars in Brussels, owned by Amaury de la Croix d'Ogimont. Since then, the car has been displayed at the Autoworld museum in Brussels, at the Auto Classics show in Bruges and at Antwerp Collection Cars, where it attracted much attention from visitors. Today, this exceptional E-Type is in immaculate condition. Its paintwork, in its original colour, is utterly beautiful, while the tobacco-brown leather upholstery invites you to set off on a trip. Like the other cars in the collection, it comes with historical documents such as catalogues and photographs, as well as the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate mentioned above, a FIVA ID card and various other documents. As one of the very rare ‘OBL’ (Outside Bonnet Lock) versions, this E-Type is among the first cars built, and its condition does justice to its historical importance. As well as being able to be driven for any rally or meeting, it is therefore clearly set apart from other E-Types, opening the door for it to the most prestigious events and concours.
