Native American, Southwestern United States, Apache. A pair of beaded hide moccasins cut from supple tanned leather. Each vamp is worked in dense rows of white glass seed beads. Stepped red and green motifs radiate around the toe like opposed arrowheads, and a chevron band climbs toward the ankle. A hide flap tied with a thong closes each shoe. The soles have hardened through use, so these moccasins were plainly walked in and not only admired. The condition and nearly full beading suggests footwear for special occasions, perhaps worn for display or ceremony. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. Item # 206135
