19th C. Japanese Round Kutani Figural Charger Depicting two brigands ready to attack a sleeping figure having drunk too much wine, a large wine jar at his side and an overturned footed cup at his feet, shown within a gold and red cartouche with small rondel panels in the border depicting floral sprays, and Mt. Fiji. The inscription on the reverse indicates it was made in the studio of Setsuzando, 1868-1912, "Dai Nippon Kutani", "Great Japan Kutani". Approximate dimensions: 2 3/4 x 21 1/2 x 21 1/2 in. (7 x 54.6 x 54.6 cm.) Provenance: Private Collection of Daniel Gould, Acworth, GA.
