Central Asia, Nepal, ca. 19th century CE. A petite wooden statue of a seated figure on a pedestal, possibly representing a Hindu-Buddhist deity or a donor figure. Donor figures are depictions of individuals who made offerings to Buddhist temples or institutions, often shown in formal attire with gestures of devotion, symbolizing their piety. The statue is heavily coated with a blackened patina, likely a mixture of animal fat or butter rubbed into the surface as an offering, combined with years of smoke. Size: 3" L x 1.5" W x 4.5" H (7.6 cm x 3.8 cm x 11.4 cm); 5.5" H (14 cm) on included custom stand. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. Item # 192595
