This 19th-century Southwest Asian brass box features an elongated, octagonal silhouette elaborately embellished with hand-engraved ornamentation. The hinged lid showcases a centralized, mirror-image motif of two stylized dragons facing each other amidst a field of scattered rosettes and dense foliate borders. Complementing the serpentine dragon imagery, the vertical sides of the vessel are densely chased with panels depicting deer bounding through scrolling vine work. The piece displays a rich, naturally oxidized golden patina overall, with characteristic verdigris and remnants of a reddish-orange tone along the interior floor, preserving its authentic antique character.
