Aging: Three and a half years in French oak Bordeaux barrels, half new and half used; followed by blending and further aging in bottles. Harvest: Hand-harvested between September 29th and October 18th. Vineyard: Tempranillo from old, bush-trained vines in San Vicente and surrounding villages, with an average age of 70 years. Some of these vines were planted after the phylloxera infestation, and some old varieties still survive. The Garnacha comes from 90-year-old vineyards planted in the Cárdenas area, in the Alto Najerilla region, also at a high altitude. Winemaking: Each variety and plot was fermented separately in stainless steel tanks, using the grapes' own yeasts and undergoing spontaneous malolactic fermentation. Alcohol Content: 14% Vol Classica Gran Reserva Tinto is the ultimate expression of Rioja tradition. Made with Tempranillo and Garnacha grapes from old vines in the Sonsierra and Alto Najerilla regions, this wine reflects the wisdom of time. Its three and a half years of aging in Bordeaux barrels and subsequent bottle refinement bestow a unique complexity. On the nose, it unfolds a symphony of aromas of spice, licorice, dark fruit, and balsamic touches, accompanied by subtle hints of fallen leaves and tobacco. On the palate, it combines smoothness and energy, with a sweet and enveloping entry that leads to a long and nuanced finish. Perfect for those seeking a wine with character, depth, and authenticity. Visual: With great color intensity, it maintains a high layer despite its prolonged aging phase. Nose: It stands out for its great intensity and complexity. The spicy and licorice notes are accompanied by black fruit and orange peel. In the background, balsamic notes can also be appreciated, giving it great appeal and a hint of freshness. Mouth: It has great intensity while also exuding smoothness. With very pleasant tactile sensations that denote warmth, it maintains great energy based on its good acidity. Its start is sweet and enveloping, leading to a long, very pleasant mouthfeel that culminates in an aftertaste full of complexity. 98 points Decanter World Wine. Best in show.
