The Ultreia de Valtuille 2010, made by the renowned winemaker Raúl Pérez, comes from old Mencía vines in the Valtuille de Abajo region. This wine has a medium body and a pronounced mineral character. It ages for a year in used barrels, allowing the terroir to express itself pure and avoiding the influence of new oak. About 3,000 bottles were produced, with the complexity of the unique microclimates of Valtuille at the center. Pérez's innovative approach has contributed to Bierzo's recognition as an emerging wine region. 100% mencia, fermented with a large share of whole clusters in Austrian and French oak barrels, then aged 12 months on the lees: Deep ruby red. Powerful aromas and flavors of cherry compote, wild herbs, anise, Asian spices and potpourri, with subtly integrated oak. Mature, lush and spicy, without excessive weight and with a powerful finish. The long, intensely spicy finish is characterized by very fine tannins and a seductive floral note. Shipped only to Belgium and EU countries with Track and Trace. (NO UK)
