2019 Ferrari 488 Pista

Introduced at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show as the successor to the 458 Italia, the Ferrari 488 GTB brought turbocharged power to the marque’s mid-engine V-8 berlinetta. Its 3.9-litre engine delivered a substantial increase in performance, while the car retained the balance and immediacy that had defined its naturally aspirated predecessor. The 488 also provided the foundation for Ferrari’s next special-series V-8, following the path established by the 360 Challenge Stradale, 430 Scuderia, and 458 Speciale. ‌ Unveiled at Geneva in 2018, the 488 Pista took its name from the Italian word for “track.” Ferrari developed it using lessons learned from the 488 GTE and 488 Challenge competition cars, revising the engine, aerodynamics, weight, and chassis to create a substantially more focused road car. Ferrari described the Pista as a significant step forward in both sporting dynamics and the transfer of racing technology to the road. ‌ The most visible changes concerned aerodynamics. An F1-inspired S-Duct channeled air through the nose and over the hood to increase front downforce, while revised underbody elements, a reshaped rear spoiler, and a new diffuser improved efficiency. Ferrari claimed a 20% increase in aerodynamic efficiency over the 488 GTB, while extensive use of lightweight materials helped reduce weight by approximately 90 kg. ‌ The twin-turbocharged V-8 was similarly transformed. Revised internal components, improved cooling, and a lighter Inconel exhaust manifold helped raise output to 720 PS at 8,000 rpm, making it the most powerful road-going V-8 Ferrari had produced to that point. Ferrari quoted 0–100 km/h in 2.85 seconds and a maximum speed exceeding 340 km/h. ‌ The result was a car that combined formidable circuit capability with surprising accessibility. Writing for Evo in October 2019, Adam Towler praised its “ultra quick but faithful steering, delicate sense of balance and superb damping,” adding that the Pista was “not a car you need to fight” and one with which a driver could quickly “build a rapport.” ‌ This 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista is a particularly distinctive Tailor Made specified example, first registered in December 2019 and retained by its original owner from new. Finished in Rosso Corsa (Racing Red), it features a competition-inspired Bianco (White) and Blu Laguna (Laguna Blue) livery with racing roundels carrying the no. 18 on the hood and doors in tribute to Ferrari’s 1974 Ferrari Dino 308 GT4/LM No.18. The roof, exterior mirrors, and additional bodywork details were likewise accented in Bianco. ‌ Inside, the carbon fibre racing seats are upholstered in Blu Elettrico (Electric Blue) Alcantara with vintage-style piping. Matching Alcantara appears on the dashboard inserts, door pockets, door handles, and four-point harness pads, complemented by blue stitching. ‌ The extensive specification also includes matte carbon fibre throughout the exterior, engine compartment, and cabin, along with 20" gold forged wheels, a road-legal roll bar, front-axle lift, front and rear parking cameras, adaptive headlights, Apple CarPlay, high-power Hi-Fi, white rev counter, black tailpipes, and a fire extinguisher. ‌ Showing just 1,486 km at the time of cataloguing and remaining under factory warranty until 15 December 2026, this single-owner 488 Pista combines limited use with a strikingly detailed Tailor Made specification. Its No. 18 livery, gold wheels, and Blu Elettrico interior give it a highly individual character, making it an especially compelling example of Ferrari’s celebrated special-series V-8. car
