Speri, Valpolicella Classico Superiore "Sant'Urbano" DESCRIPTION: Producer: Speri Wine: Valpolicella Classico Superiore "Sant'Urbano" Vintage: 2019 Number of Bottles: 3 Size: 1,5L Grapes: Corvina veronese 70%, Rondinella 20%, Molinara 5%, altre varietà autoctone 5% Aging: matures for 18 months in Allier oak tonneau. Alc.: 13.5 % Speri’s Valpolicella Classico Superiore “Sant'Urbano” is a fruity, intensely flavored red wine from the Veneto region, produced in the magnificent hilly area northwest of Verona. It is a wine that strongly reflects its terroir, both in the choice of grape varieties and the winemaking process. It is made from the native red grape varieties historically grown in Valpolicella primarily Corvina Veronese, Rondinella, and Molinara using grapes that have undergone a light drying process. Aging in wood allows the wine to develop complex notes and expressive maturity, resulting in a red wine with solid structure and a lingering finish. Produced by the historic Speri winery, the “Sant'Urbano” Valpolicella is crafted from the best grape clusters, which are dried for approximately three weeks. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. Following malolactic fermentation in concrete vats, the wine matures for 18 months in Allier oak tonneaux. In the glass, it displays a rather intense ruby red color. The bouquet offers ripe red fruit aromas, along with notes of sour cherry, mixed berry jam, and soft spices. On the palate, it is rich, expansive, and enveloping, leading into a harmonious and delicately spicy finish.
