Duc de Vernel: Region: Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux, France Vintage: 2020 Color: Red Style: Dry, fairly full-bodied Bordeaux Grapes: Probably mainly Merlot, supplemented with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. A wine register lists approximately 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Alcohol: Approximately 14% Character: Dark fruit, cherry, blackcurrant/plum, some toast/wood, and firm but reasonably elegant tannins. The 2020 is now about 6 years old and is starting to come into its own beautifully. A wine register rates the current phase as mature, with further development in the coming years. I would serve it at 16–18 °C and optionally decant it for 30–60 minutes.
