37pc Collection of Maritime Postcards and Ocean Liner Ephemera

Collection of maritime ephemera featuring passenger liners and steamships from several major mid-20th century lines. The group includes a Shaw Savill Line cream paper envelope for the Q.S.M.V. Dominion Monarch, which contains twelve black and white postcards showing interior and deck views. Each card bears a printed caption such as DOMINION MONARCH - DINING SALOON or DOMINION MONARCH - WAITING ROOM. The lot features four Australia Post First Day of Issue cards dated June 1, 2004, for the ships Dominion Monarch, Moreton Bay, Awatea, and Ormonde, each with a corresponding stamp and circular black postmark from Port Melbourne. Also present are Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P and O) items, including an unused letter card for the turbo-electric ship Strathaird and black and white postcards for the ships Iberia and Chusan. The collection is rounded out by modern color postcards of cruise ships. Dimensions: 6"W x 4"H Provenance: Museum of Miami Collection, known for its extensive archives, manuscripts, and visual materials documenting the region's history.
