This set of Wedgwood glazed earthenware, or Queen's Ware, features the Travel pattern designed by Eric Ravilious in 1938. The collection consists of three plates and one covered vegetable tureen. Each piece is decorated with gray transfer-printed vignettes depicting various modes of transportation and landscapes, accented with light blue highlights. Specific vignettes include a steam locomotive emerging from a tunnel, a sailboat, a classical temple, and a mountain landscape with a funicular. The rims are finished with a distinctive border pattern of concentric semicircles in gray and light blue. The reverse of the plates bears a printed black mark reading TRAVEL DESIGNED BY RAVILIOUS OF ETRURIA WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND BARLASTON. All pieces have a circular sticker for the Rubin Collection.
