A collection of English earthenware plates from the Ivanhoe series produced by Wedgwood. This grouping features various decorative techniques, including polychrome plates with transfer-printed scenes and hand-painted overglaze colors, a monochrome transfer-printed plate under a translucent green glaze, and a monochrome transfer-printed plate under a translucent yellow-amber glaze. The central scenes illustrate episodes from Sir Walter Scott's 1819 novel, Ivanhoe, including depictions of The Black Knight and Friar Tuck. Each plate features a wide border decorated with medieval figures in roundels alternating with vignettes of hunting animals and dogs. The reverse of each plate is marked with a rectangular transfer stamp reading IVANHOE, WEDGWOOD, ETRURIA, ENGLAND. One plate bears a blue retailer stamp for SEAL SIMONS Philadelphia, Pa., and several plates retain circular stickers for the RUBIN COLLECTION. Dimensions: 0.75"H x 10.25" dia.
