A Distinguished Set of Antique Damask Linen Napkins with Hand-Embroidered J.L. Initials This is an set of six substantial damask linen napkins, originally part of a complete set of twelve. As large dinner parties are less common today, I have decided to offer the collection in two lots of six. Should you wish to acquire the original set in its entirety, both lots are included in the same auction. The damask itself is particularly attractive, with a decorative border featuring leaves and anemones. The hand-embroidered initials J.L. are beautifully presented within a rectangular frame of matching floral decoration. For those who appreciate the authenticity of antique hand embroidery, please look at the final photograph, which shows the reverse of a napkin. The loose threads are a clear indication of the original handwork, with each stitch contributing to the individuality and character of these initials. What truly distinguishes these napkins, however, is their exceptional border. A square garland of delicate little ribbons frames the design, giving each napkin an additional decorative dimension and a particularly refined finish. The napkins appear to have been very little used.
