A. Carrier-Belleuse (1824–1887) - after - Sculpture

A fine bronze sculpture depicting Diana, the Roman goddess of the hunt (Artemis in Greek mythology). Diana is portrayed standing over a hunted wild boar, carrying a bow and quiver of arrows. A hunting horn decorated with a serpent’s head hangs over her shoulder, while a loosely draped garment falls around her body. The sculpture is made after the work of the French sculptor Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (1824–1887) and is finely detailed throughout. Dimensions: 48 × 18 x 18 cm. Weight: 6.1 kg. Signature: Albert. Foundry stamp: yes. Condition: excellent (see images). Made of high-quality bronze with a brown patina and delicately coloured details. The sculpture is mounted on a round black marble base. A finely executed mythological bronze with attractive detailing and colouring.
