A COPPER ALLOY FIGURE OF THE CROWNED BUDDDHA

Tibeto-chinese, around 1400, H 18.5 cm. With a beautiful lustre, remains of fire gilding and details set in red. The Buddha wears a patchwork robe and touches the earth with his right hand. The heavily worn face bears witness to intensive ritual use and still conveys a sense of deep contemplation.
