All auctions / Arts & Graphics / A DIVISION ONE HAND PAINTING UNDER GLASS BUTTON

1 Large 18th century hand colored VELLUM fishing scene button! Here is one of two in this auction showing a fishing scene under glass, hand painted and hand colored on parchment. These very cool examples are so beautifully executed and remind me almost of a Tom Sawyer story. The two examples in this auction are a wonderful reminder of a simpler and more serene period. One can see the texture in the images attached of the Vellum (parchment-animal skin) under the glass . Were in hopes that the buyer in today's auction is able to acquire both of these exquisite examples. This and the other example in this auction came from a larger set of which we sold two of in our spring auction, each of which brought the middle to over our estimates. From the collection of the late Jeff Lee of Ohio. Dimensions: SM=Less than 3/4", Medium=3/4" to 1 1/4". Large=1 1/4" and above, extra large=1 3/4" and above Date or Era: DIVISION 1=PRE 1918 AND DIVISION 3 IS AFTER 1918 Condition Request Condition Report PLEASE NOTE: These buttons for the most part are antique and may have age related wear.
