(A) FINE CONDITION COLT MODEL 1861 SPECIAL CONTRACT PERCUSSION MUSKET. Typical 1863 contract rifled musket finished in the white as built by Colt. Standard three band with military folding ladder rear sight, 1863 on lock and tang, VP eagle head proof on barrel breech, small blade post front sight, tulip cleaning rod, swivels and full length walnut stock. CONDITION: Excellent. The "in the white" finish has only slightly oxidized but extremely clean and crisp as are all of the legends. Nipple looks almost new with no corrosion around the firing area. Stock is excellent with some light scattered sundry impressions, a few dings and has an added coat of finish added for protection. Mechanically sound with a bright bold bore.
