A George III silver coffee biggin, with flush-hinged joint to the lid and spirally lobed, 20cm h, by Solomon Hougham, Solomon Royes & John East Dix, London 1818, 19oz 10dwt This example of a George III coffee pot may legitimately be called a biggin, not only on account of the shape but the presence of a socket foot for a lampstand. The partnership's mark is scarce as Hougham died in 1818.
