A Georgian gold ring set with a Renaissance sardonyx cameo of a female Muse, the oval two-layer sardonyx cameo carved in white relief against a translucent reddish-brown ground, depicting the draped bust of a classical female figure, probably a Muse, in profile to the left, her hair swept back and gathered behind the head, the cameo collet-set within a broad plain gold bezel above tapering shoulders and a plain hoop, the cameo Renaissance period, likely 16th century, likely mounted as a ring in the 18th century, size L, 6 grams, presented in an old jeweller’s box inscribed ‘A.
