A JAPANESE CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL SNUFF BOTTLE Meiji period, of ovoid form, the pale cream ground worked throughout with butterflies amid cherry blossom and scattered petals, between bands of lotus lappets in black heightened with red beading, the neck with a band of blue scales, with gilt-metal rims and a gilt-metal stopper. 7cm high Some very minor losses of enamel in the red dot border around the oval foot. Some slight discolouring in the enamel, but otherwise in good condition.
