“Gracia” This mixed-media work explores the boundary between the human figure and abstraction. Through a composition focused on the face and the delicate gesturality of the hands, the piece invites the viewer to a serene introspective experience. The elevated chin and the elegance of the posture convey confidence, dignity, and openness, while the hands become a subtle language of expression and presence. The title, Gracia, refers to that quality that transcends appearance: a way of inhabiting oneself with serenity, elegance, and authenticity. The figure is not presented from fragility, but from a conscious and affirmative presence, where the dialogue between color, material, and form builds a feminine image that finds beauty in its own essence and projects a sense of elevation, fullness, and inner freedom. Vida AMReyes. (Granma, Cuba 1991) discovered from a very young age that drawing was not just a pastime, but a way to translate the world. In 2010, she graduated with honors from the prestigious Carlos Enrique Gómez School of Fine Arts. There she consolidated an exceptional technical training in oil painting, acrylic, and life drawing, foundations that would later shape her conceptual signature. Her early career unfolded amid the Cuban cultural effervescence, actively participating in young art salons and group exhibitions. Her work immediately began to stand out: in salons and exhibitions earning numerous prizes and mentions. AMReyes’s work is distinguished by a visceral and imposing realism that captures the gaze at once. However, her proposal does not stay in mere photographic mimesis. On anatomies worked with rigor or faces charged with deep psychographic expressivity, the artist superimposes and integrates icons, allegories, and conceptual elements: wings that seem invisible to the bearer, suspended threads, blocks of dense color, or garments laden with symbolism. For her, the human body and everyday figure are the perfect canvas to reflect on identity. This fusion of technical mastery and symbolic narrative opened the way to her international projection. Over the past decade, her pieces have been acquired by private collectors and galleries in: Spain: Where her conceptual language connects with European expressionism. United States: Integrated into private collections dedicated to contemporary Latin American art. Belgium and Poland: Exhibited in figurative art fairs and avant-garde galleries. Russia: Acquired by collectors fascinated by technical rigor and the school of realism. Currently, AMReyes resides in Spain, a country where she has established her studio and consolidated a new creative phase. Far from the fast commercial noise, she continues to develop her artistic life with patience and rigor, exploring painting as a tool of universal introspection. Her studio is today a space of constant creation, where every brushstroke continues to reveal those hidden truths and icons that we all carry inside, but that we often find hard to see.
