A one of a kind hand-forged 18k gold and lapis lazuli sculptural artist's brooch formed as a stylized pelican. Unique piece. Hollow, repoussé half-length depiction of a stylised bird facing forwards with outstretched wings. Neck and body set with cabochon-cut plaques of lapis lazuli and blue-black composite stone. Mounted on a necklace of small sodalite beads. Not hallmarked. Hand-signed, numbered and dated “Jean Pierre de Coster 1/1 1984”. Height 11.0 cm. Width 9.5 cm. Total weight (including chain) 80.35 g. Jean-Pierre de Coster, Belgium, 1984.
